Melchior Productions - No Disco Future
Pitchfork - Record reviews (8,6/10)
Repetition has always been Thomas Melchior's forte. Like any good minimalist, he knows how to drive a point home by tapping away, favoring patience over force. And after tapping away, in his inimitable style, for a long time now, he's made the best record of his career.

Psychedelic Serge
NOW Toronto - music review
Like many of those putting out the rarities collections currently hitting shelves, the mystery compilers of the Serge Gainsbourg psych set Les Années Psychedeliques 1966-1971 (Le Smoke Disques) appear to have sidestepped all the legal red tape to present a long-overdue selection of the forward-looking French icon’s fantastically fuzzed-out movers and trippy groovers, mostly recorded for film soundtracks.
Having spent years digging for the obscure 7s and LPs from which these tracks produced by Jean-Claude Vannier and Michel Colombier were lifted, I can tell you that assembling a set like this took serious time and effort. Off-the-chain creations like Psychasténie, La Horse, Première Blessure and Chanson Du Forçat really need to be heard.
New Trentemøller single comin soon!!
Just confirmed: Anders Trentemøller will release the next Audiomatique 12" in March 2008!
The record will contain four remixes of Trentemøller's "Miss You", originally taken from his debut longplayer "The Last Resort". One remix done by himself and the others are done by the well known brilliant producers Pascal F.E.O.S., Pole and Lulu Rouge.
SYSTEM 7's new album PhoenixL
System 7’s Phoenix album is their most accomplished in a long and influential dance music career. A fusion of deep dark spacey techno and some rich dreamy downtempo moments, Phoenix contains all the elements that make System 7 great, including Miquette Giraudy’s unique electronica and Steve Hillage’s highly specialised techno guitar. The album is inspired by the manga graphic novel series ’Phoenix’ by Osamu Tezuka - one of the founding fathers of Japanese manga culture – and features collaborations with Jam El Mar (of Jam and Spoon), Son Kite, Slack Baba, Eat Static, Gong’s Daevid Allen and Mito from the Japanese band Clammbon.

#3. THE FIELD From Here We Go Sublime (Kompakt)
Just when everything seemed to be going the way of overly sensational blog-house, mash-up after mash-up that, in comparison, made pure tech-house seem bland and boring, Swedish act the Field released this gem. ...Read More
#6. GUI BORATTO Chromophobia (Kompakt)
From its rainbow-blasted album cover to its uplifting tracks, the ironically titled Chromophobia (fear of colours) rejoices in Sao Paulo’s sun-dappled wavelengths rather than the cold greys of Berlin or Detroit. Brazilian producer Gui Boratto combines skittery beats with trance-y synths, computer clicks and aerosol hisses with organic tones — and the results sound both cinematically widescreen and intricately Lilliputian....Read More
Gerardo Frisina :: notebook - New album
Remixes and rare tracks from the mighty Gerardo Frisina -- easily our second favorite Italian groover next to the mighty Nicola Conte! The set's a great counterpart to some of Frisina's other full albums on Schema -- because it not only presents a few previously unreleased tracks, it also offers up some of Gerardo's great remix work for other artists in recent years! Frisina's got a great way of imbuing a current track with a classic Latin vibe -- mixing acoustic percussion, driving rhythms, and jazz-based instrumentation together with incredible sharpness and energy -- a no-nonsense approach to a groove that shows that's almost a distillation of the best older elements.
